THINGS THAT GROW

'Things that grow' is a fluid musical project that centres around contemporary bow music. Cara Stacey performs on umrhubhe, makhoyane, uhadi, and sings contemporary compositions and improvisations exploring the sonic possibilities of these instruments. The first recording under this title features Shabaka Hutchings (clarinet, tenor saxophone), Seb Rochford (drums), Ruth Goller (bass), Crewdson (concertronica), and Dan Leavers (synths/production). Combining original compositions by Cara Stacey and Shabaka Hutchings, as well as freely conceived improvisations, this recording aims to stretch the boundaries of bow music in an ensemble and create something entirely new. Released on Kit Records, 'Things that grow' is available here.
